Do you know what’s in your glass of wine?
Did you know wine can contain traces of animal products? If you’re a vegan or vegetarian, this may be an issue for you, but thankfully Pure Vision wines are fined with a veggie-based fining agent, making our wines VEGAN-FRIENDLY.
Why is fining required? A fining agent is added to a wine to either bind to the suspended solids (very common early on in the winemaking process) and causes them to fall to the bottom, or it absorbs them.
Fining agents come in many forms – the most common animal-based agents are: isinglass (gelatine from fish bladder membranes), egg albumen, blood and bone marrow, fish oil, gelatine and milk protein. That’s why you often see disclaimers on wine labels such as, “May contain traces of egg white or fish products.”
In most cases, a vegan wine will state that it is vegan friendly on the back label, so if it doesn’t, then perhaps look into it before purchasing.
So, what’s in your glass of wine? None of the above if it’s a glass of Pure Vision!
